HOW TO CARE FOR A HANDMADE GARMENT
IMG_5170

Handmade clothes are meant to stay in our closets forever. Here you can find the appropriate ways to preserve them and make them look brand new.

1) The care of a garment always depends on the type of its thread. This is why you should refer to the washing instructions label. In case you haven’t kept the label or if you have any questions or if you simply wish to be certain of the proper care of your garment, you may contact us.

2) Our company uses only high quality threads (organic, natural or vegan) which have the attribute of being odor deterrent, not inducing perspiration and not requiring frequent washing up. They are easy to freshen up even if you simply leave them hanging out outdoors, in fresh air, for 8-10 hours during nighttime. Before that, you can optionally spray with a special clothes freshener.

3) In case there is a stain on your fabric, you should best clean it immediately, using a baby wipe or rinsing and gently rubbing with a cloth or wet piece of cotton (warm water for most stains, cold water for red stains like blood or red wine and milk for ink stains). Even if the stain is dry and absorbed in the fabric, you can try to clean the spot with a baby wipe.

4) In case you have worn your garment several times and needs freshening up, dry cleaning is the best solution.

5) If there is a stubborn stain on your garment, you can hand wash or machine wash as our clothes can be normally washed in the delicate cycle at low speed. ATTENTION! Handmade clothes, and especially macramé, need to be very well squeezed when hand-washed, mainly at the knots, so that they do not retain any moisture which can alter the color of the threads. You should ideally dab the knots (after you have properly squeezed the clothes) with an absorbent towel or absorbent paper.

6) Dry your garment in a drying rack or ropes horizontally and not vertically (especially the macramé as they have knots in their endings) and wait until fully dry. Avoid drying in the sun in high temperatures. Prefer a shady place or dry indoors.

7) Most of our clothes do not require ironing! If, however, you wish to iron your garment, you may use a steam iron vertically after you have placed your garment on a hanger or an ironing board, placing a towel between the iron and your garment.

8) Keep your garment hanging inside a closet, leaving a small space from the nearby hangers.

9) Do not use bleach or other caustic products for stains. Preferably use ecologic/non-toxic detergents. Use a special cloth which deters color transfer, if you have clothes of different colors.

10) All the care instructions are also valid for the rest of our creations.

11) In case you have bought a product with fringes, you can keep it soft and straight by combing it with a hair slide which has multiple small spikes.
